Carely - AI Powered Health Monitoring System
Founded by entrepreneur Omar El Sayed, a two-time Stars of Science participant, Carely is an ambitious project aiming to revolutionize healthcare through artificial intelligence and emotional computing. Omar approached us with a bold vision — to create an AI-powered assistant capable of delivering both medical monitoring and meaningful companionship for elderly or long-term care patients.

Our team is responsible for developing both the hardware and software of the project, building a fully functional MVP that demonstrates Carely’s potential as a hospital-integrated intelligent companion. The prototype is being developed around a Raspberry Pi platform, featuring an LCD interface, computer vision camera, microphone array, and vital sign sensors for monitoring heart rate, oxygen, and temperature. All components — from wiring and cooling to sensor integration — are being engineered into a compact, portable design that can be seamlessly attached to hospital beds or patient stations.

On the software side, we’re integrating AI-driven conversational interaction, speech recognition (STT/TTS), emotion detection via computer vision, and real-time health data processing. The system connects patients with caregivers or family through video calls and emergency alerts, while also providing adaptive, memory-supportive conversation to reduce loneliness and cognitive decline.
Currently, Carely is a work in progress seeking investor funding and preparing for presentation under the Stars of Science program. With our combined efforts in embedded design, AI development, and user experience, the goal is to transform this concept into a market-ready healthcare assistant that blends compassion with cutting-edge technology — improving patient care, emotional well-being, and caregiver efficiency.
